Painful Feet

painful feet - oxford chiropody

'Metatarsalgia' is a generic term coined to describe generalised pain in the forefoot.

This can be caused by a myriad of factors, but is often eased through specialist footwear advice and provision of bespoke devices and orthoses (insoles).

The pain can be caused through physical changes, such as arthritis, injury and/or loss of fibrofatty padding, or may be secondary to systemic problems such as peripheral neuropathy secondary to B12 deficiency.

Common causes of metatarsalgia treated by Felicity include Morton's neuroma, capsulitis, loss of fibrofatty padding and plantar plate tears.

Pain in the big toe joint can be caused by conditions such as hallux abductovalgus (bunions), hallux limitus, hallux rigidus and gout.

A thorough discussion around your medical history and neurovascular assessment is taken as a baseline in order to deduce the source of your pain in order to follow the appropriate treatment pathway.
